Street Food Cinema Celebrates Film, Music and L.A.’s Food Truck Scene
One of the best things about Los Angeles is that once the good weather rolls in, it’s here to stay. That time is now as the city is hot and the activities are even hotter. With a ton of places to catch movies both in and outdoors in this city, Street Food Cinema has a leg up on the competition to keep everyone entertained throughout the fall. Where some movie festivals taper off by the end of the summer, Street Food Cinema keeps the reels rolling all the up until Halloween.
Like always, Street Food Cinema is starting their season in early May to take full advantage of the warm weather and long days. First up on the list is “Romeo + Juliet,” the modern-day version starring Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Over the course of the next five months, they’ll feature a couple of “Indiana Jones” flicks, a handful of Disney classics including “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Hocus Pocus,” and they’ll even be celebrating a non-Disney animated favorite – “Space Jam.” It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Michael Jordan joined the Looney Tunes on the big screen but it has and this is the perfect nostalgic film as is the cascade of “Star Wars” movie events along with standards like “Some Like it Hot” and “Casablanca.” Cinema-goers can expect a marathon of spooktacular movies during October like “American Psycho,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “Scream” and closing out the season with “Beetlejuice.”
Street Food Cinema wouldn’t leave fans without some tasty grub and tunes. That’s why they have food trucks locked and ready to go for guests. Make sure to hop in line early, though, because anyone who’s been there before can attest that the lines can get long. People will be scurrying toward great eats at Baby’s Badass Burgers, Churro Stix and Oh My Gaga. Also, a variety of bands will be on hand throughout the season to entertain before the movie gets underway. Get there early to check out the likes of Act As If, Ballerina Black, Cosmos & Creature, Haunted Summer and more.
Street Food Cinema starts May 7 and runs through Oct. 29. Tickets can be purchased here.
