LA Times has given Angelenos an excuse to stay in town during Labor Day weekend with The Taste, a three-day food festival with five events featuring the best of L.A.’s dining and drinking scene. This year, The Taste returns to Paramount Picture Studios for a weekend filled with good food, drinks, cooking demonstrations and wine seminars.
The weekend kicks off with an opening night party on Sept. 1 which is hosted by all of the weekend’s hosts and co-hosts. Notable restaurants participating this night include Otium, Tar & Roses, Bourbon Steak, Mexicali Taco & Co and Scratch Bar & Kitchen.
On Saturday afternoon, Amy Scattergood and Chef Sang Yoon will host Field to Fork, which highlights local and seasonal ingredients. This event features restaurants such as Michael’s Santa Monica, Manuela, Astro Doughnuts & Fired Chicken, and Holbox. Jonathan Gold and Jenn Harris will be joined by co-hosts chefs Antonia Lofaso and Marco Ramos in the evening for Dinner with a Twist. This event will be the one that features handcrafted cocktails most heavily over the weekend, with bartenders Allan Katz (Here’s Looking at you), Gabriella Mlynarczyk (Bar Accomplice), Brynn Smith (Sotto), and others preparing drinks for the night. Food will be served by Faith & Flower, Georgie, The Pointe, Szechuan Impression, and more.
Sunday Block Party is hosted by Noelle Carter and Chef Sherry Yard (Tuck Room Tavern). The summer block party will serve bites from Rosaline, Salt’s Cure, Coni’ Seafood, and others. Jonathan Gold and Chef Gilberto Cetina, Jr. (Holbox) will close out the festivities with Flavors of L.A. on Sunday evening. The last night will bring more of L.A.’s culinary heavy-hittrs such as Hanjip, Guerrilla Tacos, Parks BBW, Cliff’s Edge, and Frankland’s Crab & Co.
