The NoMad Los Angeles Has Arrived

The Los Angeles outpost of The NoMad Hotel from the Sydell Group opens this weekend, and along with it restaurants and bars from Make It Nice hospitality group, the team behind the World’s Best Restaurant (Eleven Madison Park) and the Best Bar in North America (NoMad Bar). The restaurants at the hotel will also be the first locations outside of Manhattan for restaurateur Will Guidara and chef Daniel Humm.

The NoMad L.A., designed by Jacques Garcia, takes over the landmark Bank of Italy building, also known as Giannini Place building, on Seventh and Olive in downtown L.A. The interior of the renovated neoclassical building is designed by Jacques Garcia, who also designed The NoMad in New York.

The most anticipated restaurant at the new hotel is The Mezzanine, which will serve celebrated Chef Daniel Humm’s menu, including Chef Humm’s famous roast chicken for two stuffed with foie gras and truffles. The rest of the European-American menu will showcase local ingredients and take on a more LA flair than its New York counterpart. Executive Chef Chris Flint, who has worked for the group for eight years, is making the move to LA to oversee the kitchen. NoMad NY’s head sommelier Ryan Bailey will be the wine director at the LA location, which will have a 10,000 bottle red wine cellar. Dinner reservations are accepted on the first of the month for the following month.

The Mezzanine overlooks the more casual Lobby Restaurant downstairs, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cocktail destination will be Giannini Bar, named for the Bank of Italy’s founder Amodeo Giannini, which will feature classic and signature cocktails from award-winning bartender Leo Robitschek. On the other side of the bar is The Coffee Bar. The Coffee Bar is reminiscent of a European café and offers espresso and pastries in the morning, lunch and aperitifs during the day and cocktails in the evening. The Rooftop is currently still under construction, but later in the year the space will be home to an outdoor café and a cocktail bar to accompany the pool.

The NoMad L.A. opens Jan 21. Reservations can be made here.
