The Killers’ Brandon Flowers Brings Desire to The Wiltern
The Killers‘ “Mr. Brightside” has one of the most captivating intros to date and it is no wonder that band went on to sell more than 20 million albums worldwide. Their leading man, Brandon Flowers, proved early on that he was a force on the mic and when it decided to travel the solo route, no one was surprised. With his sophomore solo release out, he has taken to the road all summer and will be in L.A. in late September doing what he does best on stage.
Lance Armstrong was still a champion, “Lost in Translation” made everyone wonder what was whispered, and a little band from Las Vegas was heating up the charts with a song that’s already been mentioned. “Mr. Brightside” was one of the most played songs of 2003 and it helped push The Killers into the spotlight. The band toured the world and sat high atop the charts for the next decade cranking out hit after hit like “Somebody Told Me” and “Human.” Then their Victims (as their diehards are called) got wind of Flowers taking a break from the band and going solo.
The now 34-year-old released his first solo record in 2010 and it fared well enough, but he then went back to put out one more with his band a couple years later. Never one to sit quiet for long, Flowers spent the next few years touring with his boys, raising his three kids and working on his latest, “The Desired Effect.” After dropping it in May, he wasted no time getting out on tour. While he had to cancel six dates in August, he was back on the road and ready to give fans a setlist that’s chalked full of his solo stuff like “Crossfire” and “Can’t Deny My Love” as well as some Killer signatures like “Mr. Brightside” and “Read My Mind.”
Brandon Flowers plays The Wiltern Sept. 26. Tickets can be purchased here.
