Halsey Slays With ‘Badlands’ at The Fonda

Halsey Slays The Fonda

Halsey Brings Badlands to The Fonda

Growing up amongst a father who spun Slick Rick records and a mother who could recite lyrics by The Cure and Alanis Morissette, it was clear that Halsey was going to acquire an eclectic ear. That variety is evident in her music that settles in the electric pop part of the spectrum, but she brings elements of her childhood into performances, making her one of the most talked about new artists in recent years. Just this year she sold out shows and stunned an intimate crowd at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood. Fans who missed out on the chance to see her perform live didn’t make the same mistake twice when she rolled back through Los Angeles to play not one night, but two at The Fonda.

Through a smoky haze, Halsey performed the first of two nights in Hollywood with ease leading up to the finale of her “Badlands” tour. Named after her debut LP, she performed all her latest singles like “Hurricane” and “Ghost.” Fans hung on to every note that left the 21-year-old singer’s lips and while they appreciated hearing the new songs, most for the first time, they couldn’t help but go wild for the ones off of last year’s EP, “Room 93.” “Is There Somewhere” was not only a crowd favorite but the highlight of the evening. Halsey has enough energy for what she does on a stage illuminated in neon, but those who see her live can attest that she often plays it cool.

Halsey played The Fonda Nov. 18.
