Blue Steel Lives on in ‘Zoolander No. 2’

Some movies earn the title of “classic” because many in the entertainment industry have deemed them as such, making them must-watch films. Then there are others like “Zoolander” that represent what movie fans really want to experience: quotable lines, memorable characters and of course drama between two obtuse supermodels.

The first time Ben Stiller portrayed his over the top male model was back in 2001. The release came just two weeks after the horrific 9/11 attacks and no one was really in the mood to laugh. It was no fault of their own but what that did was make this movie more of a hit once the DVD landed on shelves. Word of mouth quickly made “Zoolander” reach a new level. Stiller could have left well enough alone but in 2008, he noted how he’d like to step back into that role once more. After a few years, the movie is complete and now the world will be reunited with a lot of familiar, beautiful faces.

“Zoolander No. 2” places Stiller right back in the action with Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell as their hilarious Hansel and Mugatu characters. This time around, Derek Zoolander is faced with a deadly problem: someone is killing the “world’s most beautiful people” and it’s up to him and his crew to figure out how to put an end to it. What’s crazy to think about is that pop stars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande weren’t even in middle school when the first film came out but are some of the beautiful people affected by this assassin. Along with the original cast and the cascade of Billboard hit makers, “Saturday Night Live” alum Kristen Wiig, former child star Macaulay Culkin and even Kim and Kanye appear.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson take over theaters Nationwide with  “Zoolander No. 2”  Feb. 12.
