Dine 150 Feet up in the Air With Dinner in the Sky
Fiona Chandra
Imagining a dinner that will take you to cloud nine? Well, now you can, literally. Dinner in the Sky is bringing you just that: a full-course meal served on a suspended table 150 feet up in the air. This event has made its way to 40 cities around the globe including Dubai, Rome and Malaysia, and it is finally coming to Los Angeles. For each dinner, 22 people will be strapped in their seats to enjoy (if they’re not too terrified) a four-course meal while dangling above LA Center Studios in Downtown Los Angeles.
Guests will check in and gear up in the lounge then take their seats before a crane lifts them, along with their dinner and a wait staff, in the air. The meal, prepared by chef Keven Lee aka “Cheven,” will start with a potato and fennel vichyssoise with toasted chili pecans then move on to a warm pear tart and Humboldt Fog goat cheese. For their entrees, guests can choose between sous vide beef chuck with truffle demi, a chicken confit “pot pie” or the vegetarian foraged mushroom Wellington. Desserts will be a trio of yuzu panna cotta with black pepper blueberry espuma, frozen cinnamon meringues and chocolate mousse.
Named by Forbes as one of the most extravagant meals in the world, neither the dinner nor the price is for the faint at heart: prices start at $500 per person or you can book the entire experience (22 seats total) starting from $11,000. The general ticket includes a glass of Champagne in the lounge “pre-flight,” but you can opt for a $800 Business Class ticket that will get you an extra course up in the air, tray-passed appetizers and free flowing bubbly in the lounge. A Luxury ticket will cost you $1100 and includes free-flowing Champagne and wine both in the lounge and up in the air, VIP seating and a 1 oz. box of Classic Osetra caviar. It’s a unique and thrilling experience and even at that price point people are already snagging up their seats and many dinners are selling out.
Dinner in the Sky Los Angeles will lift off from July 1-31. Tickets can be purchased using this link.
