ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) Prepare to Jam at The Troubadour
The California rockers of Animal Liberation Orchestra are known more casually as ALO. No matter what their moniker, they’ll be playing The Troubadour on February 12, 2015.
Zach Gill, Steve Adams, and Dan Lebowitz did what many teenagers do at that age and started a band in junior high. From that point, they went through a cascade of drummers and names before they became the Animal Liberation Orchestra & The Free Range Horns. At that point, in their career it was 1998 and they had a whopping nine members with five making up a horn section, and the UCSB Jazz Band director on drums. After getting educated the three original members headed out on an acoustic tour that summer. Today the band has slimmed down in size but still holds true to their beginnings, only showing their natural growth and progression eight albums later with their latest being 2012’s “Sounds Like This.”
Although these guys have had quite the colorful and intricate past, that’s not what they’re about as musicians. They’re proud to admit that the here and now, and the future is where they want to be. They don’t like to live in yesterday and are focused on continuing their musical journey all the time. That’s why that conquered the Santa Barbara area when they were in college and have since toured the world and the US with the likes of artists like Jack Johnson. Now they have their eyes set on the present that has them playing up, down and all around their home state of California on the Tour D’Amour starting February 12 through 28.
They will kick things off at the edge of West Hollywood at the world famous Troubadour on February 12. Opening the show and tour will be T Sisters. Hailing from Oakland, California the T Sisters blend Americana with Blues to create a sound that is all their own. They are in fact three sisters of Chloe Tietjen, Rachel Tietjen, Erika Tietjen. Most who’ve seen them say they’re reminiscent of girl groups from the ’60s.
