San Fermin to Take Over The Troubadour
Stephanie Hernandez
Brooklyn based orchestral infused rock band San Fermin released their self-titled debut album back in 2013. Since then the group has been on tour in promotion of their sophomore work, “Jackrabbit.” Fans of San Fermin will be able to catch the genre bending eight-piece for an intimate show at The Troubadour.
San Fermin began as a solo composition project by Yale music graduate and pianist Ellis Ludwig-Leone. Upon graduation, Ellis took a few weeks to write in isolation in a small mountain cabin, the result was to become San Fermin’s self-titled debut album. Ellis’ original composition included over 20 musicians, which he narrowed down to just an eight-piece touring ensemble. The group toured extensively for the following two years alongside acts like The Arctic Monkeys, The National and St. Vincent gaining them enough momentum to release a follow-up record. San Fermin’s second album “Jackrabbit” was released in April of 2015 to huge critical acclaim. An inspired mix of classical instrumentation, opera house worthy vocals and empathetic lyrics, San Fermin is well on their way to mainstream success.
San Fermin’s eight members have gained a reputation for consistently delivering amazing live performances. Their instrumental talent is the best, making it clear that each member is a learned student of music. If you’re looking to discover something new and appreciate great musicianship San Fermin may be right up your alley.
San Fermin will perform at The Troubadour May 19. Tickets available here.
