Georgia Native Josh Kelley Will Serenade Fans at Hotel Cafe
Located on the Hollywood Strip you can find the hidden gem, The Hotel Café, where singer/songwriters hit the intimate stage as they begin their careers or continue to develop their existing ones. Opening in 2000, The Hotel Café has been a home for many artists before they are truly “discovered.” However, in January, The Hotel Café will host the veteran singer/songwriter, Josh Kelley, for three nights.
Originally from Georgia, Josh Kelley has been writing music since age 11, alongside his brother, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum. As Kelley ventured to college in Mississippi, his songwriting expanded into full-length albums, with his first studio album, “For the Ride Home,” releasing in 2003, which included his hit single, “Amazing.” With the success of “Amazing” hitting the Adult Top 40 songs at No. 8, Kelley’s career took off with continued album releases and an appearance at the infamous Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2003.
Hollywood Records first discovered Kelley when the online program ‘Napster’ spammed some of his MP3s to their email account. With this happy accident, Kelley continued working his sound through soulful pop and ended up with a heavy country influence. His most recent effort, “Georgia Clay,” became his first country album and seventh solo album.
Regardless of Kelley’s genre, his music often hits the charts and even the silver screen. Many of his singles have appeared in movies like “Raising Helen” and “John Tucker Must Die” over the last decade. Kelley’s music often appears in the movies of his wife’s, Katherine Heigl. Heigl and Kelley first met on the production set of his music video, “Only You” back in 2005. Aiming to work together, Heigl directed his most recent music video “Naleigh Moon,” telling the story of their first adopted daughter.
Although a proud family man, Kelley never stops working on music. He continues to upload song demos he’s currently working on through his website, along with movie scores and other compositions. His fans are awaiting the album he’s been recording over the last few weeks with high expectations. To catch some of his newest work, be sure to get your tickets for The Hotel Café on Jan. 5, 12 and 19. Expect a set filled with his classic, old school hits, as well as his newest work to give you an idea of his ever-evolving style and exploration as an artist.
