‘Jessabelle’ to Delight Horror Fans

‘Horror fans can rejoice, as the new must-see horrific thriller “Jessabelle” will hit theaters on November 7. Set in a familial home haunted by an other-worldly demon, the film is the collaborative effort of Director Kevin Greutert and the producing team behind the “Paranormal Activity” and “Insidious” film franchises. Mostly known for his editing and directing work on the “Saw” movies, Greutert also worked as an editor on long list of other popular films, such as “Donnie Darko” and “Cruel Intentions.”

“Jessabelle” stars Hollywood newcomer Sarah Snook as a young woman suffering from PTSD after a horrific car crash claimed her boyfriend as well as her ability to walk. Now living in her father’s creepily quiet house, she discovers VHS tapes of her mother delivering a terrifying prophecy of death which releases a spirit determined to exact a curse on the suffering ingénue. If you’re in the market for a spirit-world drama with a twisty plotline, “Jessabelle” should do the trick. The movie’s setting provides a nice gimmick via a quaint little Southern town in Louisiana, as the South, of course, seems to be a breeding ground for supernatural phenomena. “Jessabelle” practically picks up where the horror TV show “True Blood” left off. And for those fond of that scene in “The Notebook,” when Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams paddle out to the middle of a lake, be warned that you will never look at that film in the same way again.
