Tears for Fears Will Let It All Out September 23 at The Wiltern

When discussing the ultimate bands of the 80’s, people undoubtedly recall Tears for Fears. Their albums “The Hurting,”  “Songs From the Big Chair,”  and “Seeds of Love” were three of the biggest albums of the decade. Although most people remember Tears for Fears for their hits, members Roland Ozrabal and Curt Smith are superior musicians who have always been focused on the art of crafting an album as a whole, as opposed to focusing solely on singles.

Tears for Fears started working on a new album in 2013, which Roland Orzabal has said will be very dark. This album has yet to be released and fans are salivating for a taste. Though, we can can all rejoice as Universal recently released a 30th anniversary version of past Tears for Fears albums. Additionally, Record Store Day 2014 released an EP from Tears for Fears which features covers of classic Tears for Fears songs from Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, and Hot Chip. Ozrabal said he chose those bands to cover Tears for Fears classics as he thought it appropriate to feature younger bands that influence Tears for Fears just as much as Tears for Fears has influenced them.

Tears for Fears has not made it a priority to make their concerts a trip down memory lane for fans. Past concerts have incorporated newer material than their standby hits. The band is still insanely popular as a live act and despite reuniting in 2000 and being on tour regularly, experiencing Tears for Fears live is still a rare and special sight to behold. This will be a must see concert for anybody looking to relive the 80’s
