Long Beach will have a 2015 countdown celebration in downtown LB with Fitz and The Tantrums headlining the event. Throughout the streets, there will be three stages set up for live entertainment with 12 outdoor bars available to keep attendees hydrated throughout the night.
Hailing from Los Angeles themselves, Fitz and The Tantrums have been performing together since 2008. They have been described as being the band to successfully bridge neo-soul and indie pop, their debut album, “Pickin’ Up the Pieces,” receiving critical acclaim, climbing the Billboard Heatseekers chart to claim the number 1 spot.
The six-piece consists of lead vocalist Michael Fitzpatrick, co-lead vocalist and percussionist Noelle Scaggs, multi-instrumentalist James King, bass guitarist Joseph Karnes, keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna and drummer John Wicks. Fitzpatrick explains that the band was quickly and effortlessly formed through recommendations and connections: “It was literally like five phone calls, one rehearsal, and we could have played a show that night.”
Their sophomore album “More Than Just a Dream” was released in May 2013 and was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode, M83, Phoenix) at the Sound Factory in L.A
If popular singles like “Out of My League” and “Fools Gold” aren’t enough to draw you in, there will be plenty more to hear from other artists that evening including Youngblood Hawke, Mystery Skulls, The Knitts, The New Electric Sound and more. Any previous plans made for New Year’s Eve? Scratch that, because Downtown Long Beach is the place to be for that night to ring in 2015 right.
