Kick Off 2015 with G-Eazy, Jay Ant, Kehlani & Kool John in Concert
The Fox Theater has put together quite the lineup to celebrate 2015, which is made up of a night of G-Eazy, Jay Ant, Kehlani & Kool John beats. All will take the stage on Jan. 2. Gerald Earl Gillum, better known by stage name G-Eazy, first made his way into the music scene in 2007. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Gillum knew he wanted to be involved in making music from an early age. As a result, he put together a local group known as the Bay Boyz and consecutively started producing a number of singles as a sophomore attending college at the Loyola University of New Orleans.
Producing mixtape after mixtape, G-Eazy gained recognition on his Myspace for notable tracks “Waspy” and “Candy Girl,” the latter of which having been played over 400,000 times. Dividing his time well with his studies and music, G-Eazy won the NAACP Best Music on Campus Woodie. It’s no surprise he went on to open for acts by Drake, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg.
From then on out the American rapper performed at Warped Tour and hit the road with Hoodie Allen on the “Excellent Adventure Tour” in mid-2012. Two years later he went on to tour with MMG’s Rockie Fresh, KYLE and Tory Lanez, which led up to the album release of “These Things Happen.”
As his first official studio album, “These Things Happen” highlights the rapper’s sound that is a mix of electronic, indie rock, and hip-hop. Also appearing on the album are guest artists E-40, Remo, John Michael Rouchell, and Devon Baldwin. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart.
Joining G-Eazy is Jay Ant, a rapper based in the Bay Area that cites his influences as 112, R. Kelly, Common, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, Mos Def, Usher, Daft Punk, and Marvin Gaye. In 2010 he was named in the Top Ten Bay Area Freshman (hip-hop acts) that were on watch.
G-Eazy and Jay Ant will be joined by Kehlani & Kool John on the Fox Theater stage for a night of sounds that won’t be attained elsewhere, not even in the New Year.
G-Eazy, Jay Ant, and Kehlani & Kool John will be performing at the Fox Theater on Jan 2. Tickets are available for purchase here.
