Taking Back Sunday to Play The Palladium

They’ve gone from Warped Tour punks to mature rocker adults, now Taking Back Sunday is ready to head back to the Palladium on Feb. 27, 2015.

Telling the tale of Taking Back Sunday is like reading the pages of a soap opera set in a musical scene. Guitarist Eddie Reyes started the band in 1999. He, along with John Nolan, Shaun Cooper, Mark O’Connell, and lead singer Adam Lazzara are the foundation of what fans consider the band. Their major debut, “Tell All Your Friends,” was quickly a hit of 2002 for those in a certain age range who were confused about the ins and outs of life. Over a decade later, it’s still regarded by most as their best record. After that, Cooper and Nolan left to be replaced, most notably with Fred Mascherino.

Mascherino was around when the band had their biggest mainstream album, 2006’s “Louder Now.” While they’d been on the map years prior, this record was the one that pushed them into the spotlight thanks to hit singles like “MakeDamnSure” and “Liar.” It remains their best selling album, having sold some 900,000 copies. Mascherino went on to leave before “New Again” dropped in 2009 and the members continued to enter and exit. Then Taking Back Sunday saw a revival when Nolan and Cooper rejoined in 2010. Heading back to their roots, but taking into account they were almost a decade older, most of them married and some of them parents – 2011’s self-titled expressed that mental growth in standouts like “Best Places to Be a Mom” and “Faith (When I Let You Down).”

In the handful of years since the beloved lineup was reunited, no members have walked away and they released another album last year, “Happiness Is.” A year later the band is planning to release a follow up to that, a complementary piece called “The Complete Recordings: Happiness Is.” It will have three b-sides as well as acoustic versions found on the initial release. To celebrate, or rather promote, they’re heading out on tour with The Menzingers and Letlive and hitting Los Angeles on Feb. 27 at the Palladium.

Their story is one consisting of drama, but one thing has remained the same throughout the years – their live show is consistent. They aren’t putting on an act, just a performance based on stellar musicianship and a frontman who knows how to swing a microphone like no other.
