Catfish and The Bottlemen Cross The Pond for North American Tour

The four men who make up Catfish And The Bottlemen will be hitting The Troubadour early on their upcoming tour on February 9, 2015.

This Welsh indie band was built on luck. It was mere chance that all four members happened to move to Llandudno and find one another, and more importantly – musically click. Their leading man Van McCann moved there from Australia, bringing with him not only his skills but also the inspiration for the band’s name. It’s said that they got their moniker thanks to a busker he used to come across named “Catfish the Bottleman”.

They started playing together in 2008 and landed a record deal in 2013 when they signed with Communion Records. It was that year that they released a trio of singles: “Homesick,” “Rango,” and “Pacifier.” Just a year later their career took a major turn and they signed with Island Records and released another single, “Kathleen.” 2014 was their year, being signed to a major label, having a hot track on MTV, playing over 30 festivals throughout the UK, and even heading to the US for the Governor’s Ball. They also dropped their debut album, “The Balcony” at the end of that summer in the UK.

After getting to number 10 on the UK charts, the label decided to bring “The Balcony” to the US market and released it in the states on January 6, 2015. The next day they made their late night debut on David Letterman.

With a steady footing on their home turf, Catfish And The Bottlemen are looking to create a concrete following in the US. That is why they are heading out on their first North American tour. Kicking off in San Diego at The Merrow, the band is expecting to bring their indie style to a wider audience. The Troubadour is the second date of the tour, so it’s sure to be a good show.
