Lana Del Rey Endless Summer Tour Hits Hollywood Bowl

Five years ago, an artist came onto the scene and became everyone’s musical necessity. With a style that’s been dubbed “Hollywood sadcore,” and with comparisons to Nancy Sinatra, Lana Del Rey was and continues to be a force in the industry.

The now L.A. resident was born back in New York to an entrepreneur and a teacher. Her voice shone early in the church choir and she stepped up her musicality after her uncle taught her to play guitar at 18. Between the choir and the chords, Rey struggled with her own personal demons. In her mid-teens, she had to seek help to deal with alcoholism and much of that time bred the lyrics for her sophomore release 2012’s “Born to Die.” She recalls that time in her life as the “wilderness years.” From that came the song no one could escape, “Summertime Sadness.”

Since then she’s had continued success with 2014’s “Ultraviolence” and singles like “Black Beauty” and “West Coast.” Rey doesn’t take many breaks as she’s already gearing up for the release of “Honeymoon” this August. Some songs circulating around that are on it are “Music to Watch Boys To” and “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” Fans can only hope that they’ll get to hear some of those new ones during her Endless Summer Tour that’s heading to L.A. soon.

Joining Rey for her Endless run is the one and only Courtney Love. Love has been a mainstay since the early ‘90s when her band Hole came up in the alternative rock scene, and she of course married the then grunge king; Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. Her life and career has been a whirlwind landing her in and out of the tabloids for years. Now she seems back on track with a guest spot on the hit series “Empire,” the Rey dates set, and a Cobain documentary on deck.
