Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga to Jazz Up Hollywood Bowl

Avant garde pop meets old school classics when Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett come together. This unlikely pair released their collaboration album “Cheek to Cheek” in September 2014 and are finally bringing the show to the famed stage at The Hollywood Bowl.

Tony Bennett, a born and raised New Yorker did not truly get his start in music until he returned from his service in World War II. Upon his return Bennett signed to Columbia Records and released his first number one hit “Because of you” in 1951. After 50 studio albums and over 40 million records sold worldwide it is safe to say that Mr. Bennett has changed the face of music forever, his unique blend of jazz instrumentation paired with his pop laden and relatable lyricism have made him a musical legend. Lady Gaga, a fellow native of the Big Apple saw her rise to fame with her 2008 release of “The Fame.” featuring the smash singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face,” it was impossible to escape Gaga’s sound. Riding the wave of success, Lady Gaga released “The Fame Monster” the following year to worldwide acclaim. Happenstance brought these two musical minds together in 2011, when they met for the first time at the Robin Hood Foundation Gala in New York. The pair hit it off right away and discussed creating an album together to introduce a younger generation of fans to the classic sounds of the jazz genre. Just a few short years later Bennett and Gaga released their record “Cheek to Cheek,” debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and jazz albums charts, proving sometimes to go forward you need to go back.

The dynamic duo have been on tour for the past few months and are now ready to bring “Cheek to Cheek” to the iconic stage at the Hollywood Bowl. Bennett and Gaga’s renditions of “Anything Goes” and

“It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” are sure to delight and bring some musical nostalgia to the night. It’s time to mark your calendars for what will truly be a night of musical appreciation.
