The Tallest Man on Earth to Folk Up The Wiltern

Singer/ songwriter Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth has been hard at work putting together his latest album, “Dark Bird Is Home.” Since his debut in 2006 Matsson has released three full-length records to both critical acclaim and mainstream success, and from the sounds of it, he does not intend to slow down. Fans of the Swedish artist can catch him at The Wiltern.

Kristian Matsson’s love affair with the guitar began at an early age, picking the six-string instrument up in his youth. Matsson was given classical training, that he soon found boring, and it was not until he heard the open tunings of Nick Drake in his early twenties that he was drawn back into the study of the instrument. Open tunings allowed Matsson to perform more intricate compositions while still allowing him to focus on his singing, a trait for which critics and fans alike have given him praise. Matsson recorded and produced his debut EP, “The Tallest Man on Earth” in 2006. He instantly garnered comparisons to Bob Dylan in both his vocals and in his songwriting style. A Bob Dylan fan since the age of 15, Matsson also found himself inspired by other American folk artists like Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. His first full-length album, “Shallow Grave” was released just two years later, and was followed by “The Wild Hunt” in 2010 and “There’s No Leaving Now” in 2012. His most recent work, “Dark Bird Is Home” was written while on the road. It is more personal and lyrically direct than his past albums, and Matsson has struck a new chord with its release.

The Tallest Man on Earth is known for his charismatic stage presence and impeccable skill. New listeners and die-hard fans alike will appreciate the intimate show, and the incorporation of his newest material will no doubt impress.
