Drake and Future ‘Summer Sixteen Tour’ Takes Over L.A. for Six Nights

The two “sad boys” of rap have come together again, and this time, for a full blown “Summer Sixteen Tour.” In promotion of Drake’s latest studio album “Views,” everyone’s favorite “Saturday Night Live” host has decided to team up with the equally enigmatic rapper Future for a multiple-city tour. The duo will be stopping in L.A. for a a total of six nights,  a three-night run at Staples Center September 7, 9 and 10 and another three nights at The Forum September 27-29. 

Born Aubrey Graham, Drake first gained notoriety for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the television series “Degrassi,” a fact we often forget but is still an amazing reminder of how far he has actually come. Over the next few years, Drake released various mixtapes and demos before eventually signing with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment in ‘09. His first studio album, “Thank Me Later” was released the following year and as they say, the rest is history. Debuting at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, it was soon certified platinum and laid the groundwork for his sophomore effort “Take Care” in ‘11. Spawning the now globally recognized acronym, “YOLO,” the record earned Drake his first GRAMMY Award for Best Rap Album cementing his place in rap history. Both commercially as well as critically successful, Drake’s subsequent releases “Nothing Was The Same” and “Views” have been widely regarded as his best works yet. His most successful album to date, selling just over a million copies in under a week, “Views” is truly a record most cannot – and will not – wait to hear live. Supporting Drake on his “Summer Sixteen Tour” is the highly buzzed about wordsmith Future who brings his fourth solo album “EVOL” to the table.

Toronto meets Atlanta and fans will be reaping all the benefits of these two artists’ varying styles. With each player bringing strings of hits, non-stopped played tracks and attitudes to match it’s hard to believe these shows are going to be anything less than iconic.
