Tracy Morgan Is Back With ‘Picking up the Pieces’

Tracy Morgan is back on the stage for his “Picking up the Pieces” tour and he has a lot to say with this being his first tour since the horrific accident that turned the comedian’s life upside down.

In 2014, Morgan, with his fellow comics and the limo bus driver, were hit by a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident caused the death of his comedian friend, James McNair, and left Morgan in critical condition. Morgan miraculously pulled through, but there was a long road of recovery for the husband and father, including speech and physical therapies. At the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2015, Morgan walked on the stage and received a standing ovation from his colleagues.

Ready to get back to work, Morgan has been touring throughout 2016. In a letter to his fans on the site whosay.com, Morgan writes about returning to comedy: “I know that lots of you might be going through hard times right now, but remember one thing: Tough times don’t last, tough people do. In my opinion, you’ve got to either get busy living, or get busy dying—and I tell everybody to get busy living! Take it from me—I almost lost my life, and it’s too precious. You’ve got to live your life to the fullest. Don’t just follow your dreams, start living them.”

The show won’t all be serious; Morgan’s primary goal is to get audiences laughing. Fans will still get to see the mischievous personality and distinctive delivery Morgan is known for from his “Saturday Night Live” run, or as the nutty “Tracy Jordan” from the critically acclaimed “30 Rock.”

Tracy Morgan takes The Novo stage on Sept. 29. Tickets are available here.
